The final game of the regular season is Saturday when New Mexico (23-7, 10-5 MWC) visits Colorado State (6-23, 0-15). Basically the Lobos should definately pull this one out in order to better their cause for an NCAA Tournament at-large bid.

The Lobos, 7-1 in their last eight games, are in third place in the league after Tuesday's 59-45 victory over second-place UNLV. A win at Colorado State clinches the No. 3 seed for UNM in next week's MWC Tournament in Las Vegas. The No. 3 seed plays the No. 6 seed Thursday at 9:30 MDT. One game ahead of San Diego State in the conference standings, New Mexico will either be the No. 3 or No. 4 seed regardless of its outcome at Colorado State. San Diego State is 9-6 and plays at Air Force Saturday afternoon at 1. The Aztecs win any tiebreaker with the Lobos since they split the season series with league champ BYU.

A victory Saturday would also equal the most wins by a New Mexico team during the regular season. The 1977-78 Lobos were 24-3 heading into the NCAA Tournament while the 1995-96 team was 24-4 going into the Western Athletic Conference tournament.

Pisses Me Off...

March 5th, 2008 (10:31 pm)

John McCain is now the republican nominee. 110% Pro-war.

Barack Obama should be the democratic nominee. Pro-Peace.
But his middle name is "Hussein" and it freaks people out.
If McCain wins watch it be because of this.

But look at his middle name. "Sidney." Haha

LOBOS vs UNLV 3/4/08

March 5th, 2008 (04:30 pm)

Even though i missed the half of the second half waiting in line for ice cream for my girlfriend, I thought i saw a well officiated and well played game.  For me, the Lobos proved that they can compete with some of the best, and that they deserve an NCAA tournament bid if they do not win the MWC tournament. J.R. Giddens should be the leading candidate for conference MVP, and definately should be heading to the pro's next year. And some relieving news, Steve Alford said he's staying next year. Thank God. He really meant it when he said it was "building a program, not a season." I smell dynasty.

The final home game of the regular season is Tuesday night when New Mexico (22-7, 9-5 MWC) plays host to UNLV (22-6, 11-3) in a key Mountain West Conference game.

The Lobos are in third place in the league with two games remaining. One-half game ahead of San Diego State in the conference standings, New Mexico, will either be the No. 3 seed or No. 4 seed at next week's MWC Tournament in Las Vegas regardless of this week's outcomes against UNLV and Colorado State. SDSU is 9-6 in the league and has just one game remaining, Saturday afternoon at Air Force.

San Diego State wins any tiebreaker with the Lobos since SDSU split the season series with BYU. The Lobos were swept by the Cougars.

If New Mexico is the No. 3 seed, it will play the No. 6 seed next Thursday, March 13, at 9:30 p.m. MST in Las Vegas. If it is the No. 4 seed, UNM will face the No. 5 seed

New Mexico women's basketball travels to Las Vegas, Nev., Tuesday to take on UNLV inside the Cox Pavilion.

Lobos will likely be a No. 4/5 seed in next week's Mountain West Conference tournament.

Dionne Marsh took over second place on the New Mexico women's basketball all-time scoring list with 16 points as the Lobos beat BYU last Tuesday at the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah, 55-45. Marsh moved past Jordan Adams (1,798; 1999-2003) with 1,799 points and needs just 38 points to pass Abby Garchek as the Lobos' all-time leading scorer.

Wat the hell?

March 3rd, 2008 (05:40 pm)

Well, I always heard about devil worshippers walking into Mass and taking the Eucharist, but not consuming it, and instead taking it outside to do some blasphemous and degrading crap to it. And I saw this on Sunday... In my home parish. Two freakin La Cueva kids sneakily trying to slide the Eucharist in their pocket, then escaping outside to go mess with it.

Pray for em.

LOBOS vs BYU 2/26/08

February 29th, 2008 (09:07 pm)
current song: pride and joy

All week long, newspapers, radio shows, tv have been the same thing: the poor officiating at the game did not affect the game's outcome. Sure, they lost an 8 point lead, blew their chance to put it away at the end of regulation, but a bad no-call with .1 seconds left gave the Cougars the game. If the foul had been called when Jamaal Smith was demolished on a layup attempt, UNM gets two free-throws and potentially could win by one. But, instead the Mormons win 70-69 and 18,018 go home pissed off. You prolly don't have much to argue about if its just the student section pissed off. But when the whole Pit is chanting "bullshit," one of the loudest things i've heard, you know something went wrong. So Erik Gee, Mark Smith, Ian Martin: shut up, they did obviously affect the games outcome.

"Get off your knees ref, your blowing the game!!"
